"HORRIBLE" CRASH LEAVES SCHUMACHER CONSCIOUS

Jenson Button described Mick Schumacher's crash during qualifying as a horrific one. The German driver lost control at high speed before hitting the wall and slamming into the wall.

As a result of the incident, there was a red flag stoppage as the car was removed, debris was cleaned up and Schumacher was taken to the trackside medical facility.

David “Crofty” Croft reported: “We’re hearing from the Haas team that Mick appears physically fine.

Pundits estimated the car was travelling at 170mph (274kph) at the time of impact into the concrete barriers at the exit to turn 10, scattering debris across the asphalt.

It was the second crash of the session after Williams's Canadian driver Nicholas Latifi brought out the red flags in the first phase.

Mick was 2020 Formula 2 champion, making his debut last year for Haas
